The idea of establishing a Kitsap County Affordable Housing Task Force was generated from a conversation between Joe Crain, executive director at St. Vincent de Paul Bremerton, and other community partners about one year ago. Crain wondered how St. Vincent de Paul's vision of creating affordable housing projects could best fit the community's housing needs. At the same time, he wanted to make sure his nonprofit wasn't competing for resources with housing projects that larger entities like the city of Bremerton or Kitsap County were already working on.
